Aloha, The Rakadrudru clan.

Woo! Hoo!

I don’t think you can type this kind of excitement… 🙂

July 30th, 7:40 am we are on our way! HOORAY!

Santa Ana, Lovo and oh my goodness it’s July!

We have arrived!  We are officially done with our first move from Benton St to Santa Ana to stay with our amazing friends the Gaunavinaka’s.  We handed over the keys to our immaculately cleaned house (by the way if you ever need something scrubbed really well, call Tia) on the first of July, and turned our gaze toward the horizon.  One big step completed 🙂 Thank you to Sigani, Vini, Lisa, Olivia, Mom and Dennis, everyone who helped out, watched the boys and loaned a truck.  So glad it’s over, seriously.

Gaunavinaka Home

Lovo, oh yes, it’s lovo time!

Our good friends the Koroitamana family are helping us to put on our last big fundraiser before our departure.  We are taking pre-orders for a full Fijian meal, serves two people, $50.00.  If you have never tried traditional Fijian food, cooked under ground, you don’t know what you are missing!

We are asking our close friends, church family and family for food or $$ (that’s money) donations to see this fundraiser be as amazing as it can be! Please call us to find out more information and let us know how you can help 🙂

Maia thanks you!

Joshua thanks you!

Ilaitia thanks you!

Nacanieli thanks you!

26 days and counting!

From the whole Rakadrudru Family, we thank you!

You should see our house

Yes, I’m showing you the outside, because I don’t want you to see the inside!!! Talk about chaos.  And the amazing thing is, although it’s annoying, I’m not hyperventilating!  If that’s not proof of God’s work in my life, I don’t know what is! I also want to say a HUGE “Vinaka na vadrakai” (thanks for your work) to my hubby.  I know I’ve said this before, but I couldn’t do this with out him.  What a gift to our family.  Like he keeps saying, it will be so much easier at the end if we do everything little by little.

It’s amazing to think that in just 10 days we’ll be saying farewell to Benton St!  What a blessing this home has been, and such fun memories.  It is a place I will always treasure because of all the Lord has done for us in this place.

Psalm 126

When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed.

Our moths were filled with laughter , our tongues with songs of joy.  Then it was said among the nations,

“The LORD has done great things for them.”

The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negev.  Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.

He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him

Entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise,

Tia, Haley, J, I (jr), M and N

Yum Yum Stand

If I thought May was going to be a whirlwind of activity I don’t even know what to say about June!  So many things happen every day it’s hard to keep track of them all.  Tia is at home with us now,  which is a blessing and a half considering all that we’ve done and all that needs to be done!

We’ve been spending our days cleaning out the house, selling items that won’t be going with us to Hawaii, preparing for yard sales, and our move at the end of the month to stay with our good friends the Gaunavinaka family. We’ve been amazed to see how faithfully the Lord is providing for us as we do our part in preparing to leave at the end of July.  His faithfulness abounds and His mercies are new every morning!

Our yard sale on the 9th of June was a great success, thank you to everyone who donated items!  It’s truly amazing to watch the Lord work, and to see His body being a part of what He’s doing.

The comfiest bed in the world, for sale.

That being said we still have some things to sell and another yard sale happening this Saturday the 16th, 8 am to 2.  Come out and see us 🙂

Our BBQ fundraiser will be on June the 23rd, we are looking forward to a great day of volleyball, good food and fellowship.  (The date changed because we didn’t want to interfere with a rugby tournament on the same day!) The BBQ will be at Rincon Valley Community Park, starting at noon and each plate is $20.00. Let us know if you can make it (or if you’d like to donate to the BBQ itself.)

The boys are enjoying Vacation Bible School at the Lutheran Church next door, swim lessons and a lot of staying up late.  Naca has decided that it’s about time to be walking and is slowly but surely mastering this new skill; he’s so amazing.  Joshua said to me today, “Let’s get to Hawaii already!”, which I thoroughly enjoyed hearing and totally agreed with!  Step by Step.

There is so much joy in the journey, watching our Father work, the rest and assurance of walking in obedience, and stepping out of the boat.  It’s both exhilarating and exhausting, and the heat doesn’t help either.  It will be a relief to have it only be in the 80’s when we get to Kona!  How fun is that?

A big thank you to our family and awesome friends who are giving so much during this time to help our family, to encourage, support and lift us up.

We couldn’t do it without you and we don’t want to! We love you all.

Set a fire down in our souls, that we can’t contain, that we can’t control; we want more of you God!

Tia, Haley, and the Yum Yum Stand Boys

Testimonies of His Greatness and Leaps of Faith

I have a few anecdotes to share, well really they are testimonies, testimonies of the Great Love of the Father.

(Oh how He loves us, may we always remember and always rejoice.)

The Bike

A grandfather and grandson stopped by our house recently to check out an old, but good, kids bike we had for sale.  The grandson was turning 6 and was looking to get his first bike.  We began talking, and found that the grandfather was a christian as well, serving the Lord for many years and attending a church in our community.  He asked about our move and we shared with him a bit about our passion in serving the Lord, and our current move back to YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Deciding the bike was a good fit, but still trying to surprise his grandson, he slipped us some money and said he “might” call back later.  (Wink, wink) 🙂 We were only asking $35.00 for the bike and in Tia’s hand was $60.00! A little while later the grandfather called us to say they had found a bigger bike that his grandson would be able to grow into, he would stop by to get the $20.00, but really believed the $40.00 was ours, “for the mission”.  His parting words were, “enjoy the blessings in Hawaii!”.  A complete stranger one minute, a part of God’s bigger plan the next.  Thank you “Grandfather”, we are amazed at how the Lord works!

More Provision

Things have been up and down with the pay at Tia’s work, to say the least.  Working for a sub contractor is always a challenge.  Recently due to extenuating circumstances Tia stayed home a few days last week.  Having tight finances already we were trusting the Lord to take care of the situation and put things right. (Getting payed what Tia’s owed!) So, this is the fun part, Tia’s supervisor knows him quite well, they’ve been working together for a long time now.  Appreciating the asset that Tia is to the company and knowing his integrity and work ethic, he decided to take on jobs (with some of the other supervisors) and have Tia get paid for them! God had other people working for Tia! That is so funny and so unexpected.  We are beyond grateful for their act of generosity and praise the Lord for He truly works in mysterious ways. 🙂

Isn’t it good to know the Lord? Yes! It is good to praise His Name!

Hoping you are encouraged to look for the Lord in your day!

Investing our faith in the character of God –  Tia, Haley, and the ready for summer boys!

Flowers from the Garden

Can you believe it’s the 5th month of 2012 already? Spring is out in full force, our garden is full of beautiful, sweet smelling blooms, and we have been enjoying some mighty fine weather.

4 boys in a pool!

We have a busy month ahead of us, jam packed with activities of all kinds; open house, preschool potluck, field trips, final days of fun at Santa Rosa Charter for the Arts and the Presbyterian Preschool, not to mention we are officially on summer break count down! 21…….  Add on to that the beginning of fundraising for our move to Hawaii, more fellowship nights, and taking care of all the details that come our way, we have our plates full (and the “food” is DELICIOUS!).

The Journey

This last week I read some amazing things during my devotional times, thoughts and scriptures that are right in line with how Tia and I are feeling about the move to Hawaii, our call and the purpose in this part of our journey. Let me share with you a couple quotes from My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers.

“The spiritual life is the life of a child.  We are not uncertain of God, just uncertain of what He is going to do next… Leave everything to Him and it will be gloriously and graciously uncertain how He will come in – but you can be certain that He will come.  Remain faithful to Him.”

and on another day:  ” ‘Though it tarries, wait for it…’ (Hab 2:3).  Patience is not the same as indifference; patience conveys the idea of some one who is tremendously strong and able to withstand assaults… ‘he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.’ (Heb. 11:27).

The more we talk we see the running theme that in this walk of Faith we are to “pray without ceasing” and persevere in what we know, and that is Him.  He called, He opened, He is in control!  We are truly excited to see all that the Lord has in store.

In this time of praying one of our most exciting prayers is for the other members of our team.  We truly believe that this mission is not ours alone, there are other members that have important roles to play in the fulfillment of God’s vision, His plan for this season in all of  our lives.  People who have been given the same passions, and desires, and will play key roles in how we function, where we go and how we accomplish all that God “planned in advance for us to do”. (And people, I’m not even talking financially :), although there are those that will fill this role as well.) We need YOU!

Phew, that’s a mouthful 🙂

Gloriously and graciously uncertain of anything but Him,

Tia, Haley, and the popsicle kids

A fun and beautiful day for our Josh's 8th birthday!

Isn’t life fun?  I mean really?! We have so many reasons to celebrate, each breath, each new day, each year, sunshine, challenges, hopes, dreams, and a living God who loves us so much.

This weekend we celebrated our boy turning 8! So much fun to watch him grow, watching him laugh, love life, enjoy, create, and explore.  What a treasure, what a gift.

Josua Nabati, loving life. 🙂

Goofin' off

With the party, the sleepover, presents and loads of love it was a full and wonderful weekend.

Fellowship Update

We had a wonderful time of fellowship on the 18th for our first prayer meeting!  We met with my parents, and our family friend who lead worship and prayed with us.  It was wonderful gathering with family, coming into the presence of our King together and sharing about our vision and the process we are in.  I can’t wait for the next meeting!

SO… Friday, May 4th, is our next planned gathering.  We hope to see you there, it will be an honor and a blessing to have you.  7:30-9, be there or be square 🙂

“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.  Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”    Isaiah 12:4-6

Celebrating Him,

Tia, Haley, 8 year old Josh, Jr, Maia and Nacanieli

Monday, Monday

The start of another new week! I can’t believe it; feels like time is slipping through my fingers.  🙂

It was a great weekend, fast, but great.

The three biggers (Josh, Jr, and Maia) had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa’s house with the new puppies, Bailey and Lulu. (Grandparents puppies, not ours!) They played games, ate good food, had baths in a bathtub (which is very important and they do it every time because we only have a shower!), and woke up extremely early for a whole day of play before 10.  This equals happy and exhausted Grandparents, and happy/grumpy boys returning home.  They literally tire themselves out having so much fun. Love, Love, Love Grandma and Grandpa xoxo

Sunday was a big day for me, I had a chance to share briefly with our church family at City Life Fellowship about our move to Hawaii and YWAM.  I was super excited and wanted to be eloquent and exact and powerful…. and I was a deer caught in the headlights. LOL! I sat down feeling a little silly, like I had rambled and made no sense, but apparently that wasn’t the case.  I had some nice feedback, and more importantly felt strongly to just let it go and Trust that the Lord had His way.  Which He always does! It’s not about me! Hooray!

Our next big event?   Josh’s 8th Birthday!!!!! (April 22)  We are so blessed by this wonderful boy.  He’s growing and changing so much.  He’s full of silliness, laughter, smiles, questions, kindness, vision, and something I can’t quite put my finger on… maybe it’s just a becoming, a small knowing of who he is in Jesus.  What a great thing 🙂 And I have to say, as much as he gets fed up being the oldest, he is really great with his brothers.  So, so, proud.  Can’t wait for the party 😀

We are looking forward to this Wednesday night and our first prayer meeting, to which you are enthusiastically invited! Please come! 7:30 to 9 for prayer and fellowship, focusing on the move and this journey 🙂

Ephesians 2:10  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Praying blessings over your week and all that God has prepared for you to do!
