Snapshots

Our next few  posts are going to be “snapshots” of what God is doing here at the University of the Nations, YWAM Kona, and in the different areas of ministry we are involved in.  Our goal is to give you a clear picture of the work that is happening, the help that is needed and our hope is that in the end you will have caught the vision and plan to help, financially and/or physically by coming!

God is doing an amazing work here in Kona, (and all over the world) through Youth With A Mission and all the volunteers who keep it going (we are currently operating in over 180 countries, 1,000 locations with 18,000 volunteers).  As a family we have arrived in Kona at a key moment, there is a large shift in how we work together as a community and the example we are setting for the other bases/campuses that have been patterned after this one.

In 1981 the leaders in YWAM (at the time) sat down together and wrote up what they call The Christian Magna Carta:

Youth With A Mission affirms the Christian Magna Carta which describes the following basic rights as implicit in the gospel.

Everyone on earth has the right to:

• Hear and understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.

• Have a Bible available in their own language.

• Have a Christian fellowship available nearby, to be able to meet for fellowship regularly each week, and to have Biblical teaching and worship with others in the Body of Christ.

• Have a Christian education available for their children.

• Have the basic necessities of life: food, water, clothing, shelter and health care.

• Lead a productive life of fulfillment spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically.

We commit ourselves, by God’s grace, to fulfill this covenant and to live for His glory.

This is why the University of the Nations, and campuses like it all over the world, are so important!  People young and old are being trained up and sent out to affect every area of society (media, arts, counseling, mercy ministries, education, information technology, etc…), bringing the gospel, meeting needs, changing communities, even in the marketplace.

This next quarter at the UofN is possibly the largest they have ever had.  More students and staff are coming in than ever before and the UofN must expand and grow to continue to move with what God is doing.  When Loren Cunningham (founder of YWAM) saw a vision of waves of young people breaking all over the world and bringing the gospel, I don’t think any one could have imagined how big those waves were going to get.

Being a part of the work that God is doing here in Kona, equipping the base with the quality of phones, internet, networking systems, etc.,  that help all of this communication and training to run smoothly, in excellence ( CROWN Ministries ), seeing our boys be brought up as the next generation to carry this flame, this torch to the nations, and reaching out to the missionaries that are here, serving, building relationship and refreshing, are all an honor and a joy to be a part of.

We are inviting you as co-laborers with Christ to join the “Surge”!  Physically we still need skilled individuals and talented craftsmen to come and serve on campus for the next month and a half,  building, cleaning and getting ready for the incoming students and staff (visit http://www.KonaSummerSurge.com to sign up or get more information).

And financially we as a family need your support.  To continue with all that God has placed in front of us we need people to commit to sponsoring us in this mission.  Please help us by joining our team, sending your support and watching Almighty God accomplish His purposes here in this work and with you in all that you do!

Sharing the vision,

Tia, Haley, Joshua, Ilaitia, Niumaia and Nacanieli
